Why Did We Make Locksure?

My father-in-law frequently forgot to lock his front door, a dangerous oversight given that he lives on a street targeted by opportunistic thieves. These thieves prey on the fact that many elderly residents often forget to secure their homes.

Initially, we considered investing in a smartlock. However, this felt like an overpriced (especially when you include installation and additional hub) and less secure solution merely to determine whether his door was locked. Instead, we devised a prototype that sends notifications to an app if the door is left unlocked. This way, we can simply remind him with a phone call. He has told us that he appreciates the independence this provides rather than having his doors remotely controlled.

Upon installing our prototype in our own home, numerous neighbours expressed interest and said it could help them remember to lock their own doors. This inspired us to make our solution available to everyone!

We hope to run our Kickstarter campaign later this year and start shipping out units our in the first half of next year.
